Detective Quest
A retro police-database terminal. Search the right keywords, follow the records, solve the disappearance.
A single page in the shape of a 1980s records terminal. You get one clue to start with and search the database for names, places and objects. Every record you open mentions more keywords, and the web of case files, emails, witness statements, camera stills and audit logs eventually leads to the answer.
- Keyword search with whole-word matching in English and Russian; the interface switches language to match.
- Records with media: photos and recordings attached to some files.
- Progress stays on the device: viewed records, search history and language are remembered in the browser. The current query and open record live in the URL, so a state can be shared.
- Authoring: a case is a folder of JSON records with keywords, text in both languages and optional media. A story guide in the repo explains how to lay a trail of atomic keywords from easy to hard questions.
Made for a Provectus game night in 2025; the case is fictional and its characters are colleagues. Type start to begin.
Kept out of search engines.
